Actor Luis Dávila passed away yesterday
As a result of a cardiorespiratory arrest, the actor Luis Dávila died yesterday at the Santa Isabel sanatorium in the Federal Capital. He was 71.
Tall, thin, manly, Dávila was distinguished by his fine appearance as a heartthrob. He was born on July 15, 1927, in the Federal Capital, and his artistic star reached its greatest splendor in the fifties.
At that time he shared the stage with Laura Hidalgo, Enrique Muiño, Beatriz Taibo, Delia Garcés, Lolita Torres, Mecha Ortiz and Diana Maggi, among many other figures of the national cinema and theater. On the big screen she made her debut in 1953 with "Mary Magdalene." Television, in its beginnings, also put its camera on Dávila, who participated in several cycles.
Slowly, his star was obscured and at that moment chance brought him closer to the filming of "The Sun in the Mirror", in Spain, a country where he lived for 10 years.
"Spain accepted me," the actor said in an interview. It didn't give me anything. It gave me the opportunity to compete in an extremely difficult environment."
He had more than forty co-productions to his credit, including "Formula 1", with Caroll Baker; "Suicide Commando," with Aldo Ray; "The Battle of Britain" and "Crime Also Plays", among others.
Undoubtedly, the images he shared with Lolita Torres, when he appeared as her silent lover in "Novia para dos" and in "La hermosa mentira" will remain engraved in viewers.
He returned to the country in 1971 and starred in the program "Estación Retiro", with Irma Roy, and "Querido salvaje", with Silvia Montanari. In 1990, his profession took him to Santiago, Chile, where he recorded the telenovela "Vila Nápoli".
He suffered a heart attack and then had to face a long convalescence as a result of a broken leg and hip. From then on, his health suffered and kept him away from his activity.
The remains of the actor will be buried today, at 11:30 a.m., in the Pantheon of Actors of Chacarita.
