Actress and model Teresa Gimpera dies
Muse of Barcelona's 'Gauche Divine', her disappearance comes just a few days after the death of Rosa Regás
Teresa Gimpera, the muse of the mythical Bocaccio nightclub, in Barcelona and the Gauche Divine. Advertising model and prolific actress. The woman with a modern image in Francoist Spain, the blonde that Alfred Hitchkock pursued.... She has died at the age of 87. The news has been confirmed by her grandson.
The death of Gimpera (Igualada, 21 September 1936) took place this afternoon in the Barcelona residence where she had lived for some time. Curiously, her death comes just a week after the disappearance of the writer Rosa Regàs, also a member of the Gauche Divine.
Born in the town of Igualada, she moved with her parents to Barcelona, specifically to the district of Sant Andreu. Discovered by the photographer Oriol Maspons, it was the publicist Germán Puig who gave her her first opportunity and by his hand she appeared in a Vim ad. That was the first appearance of an enviable career of six decades.
The photographer Leopoldo Pomés was also a fundamental piece in her life. First as a model and then, as a result of her popularity, which did not stop rising, when she made her film debut as an actress in 1965 with Fata Morgana, directed by Vicente Aranda.
The decades of the 60s and 70s were, without a doubt, the most important for Teresa Gimpera, at least professionally speaking, as she became a regular on the big screen, starring in several films in the same year.
It was at the end of the 70s when she moved away from the world of acting and founded the Gimpera Modelos school in Barcelona, her host city. However, she did not completely move away from cinema and appeared in titles such as Approved Subject, The Long Winter, Goodbye with the Heart and Los del túnel, the latter in 2017 and which was her last film.
Regarding her private life, Gimpera, also considered one of the muses of the so-called School of Barcelona, married for the first time to the publicist Octavio Sansanedas and they had three children: Marc, Job and Joan. Years later, she met the American actor Craig Hill in Rome and for work and they married in 1990 after a few years of living together. The American died in 2014 in Barcelona at the age of 88.
Of course, the figure of Teresa Gimpera will always be linked to the remembered Bocaccio nightclub in Barcelona, on Muntaner Street. Promoted by the promoter Oriol Regàs, the photographer Xavier Miserachs and Gimpera herself, the venue became the nerve centre of Barcelona's Gauche Divine and was a meeting point through which figures such as Ricardo Bofill, Terenci Moix, Beth Galí, Rosa Regàs, Joan Manuel Serrat, Colita and Elisenda Nadal, among many others, passed. Although it closed almost 40 years ago, there are still many who remember the room.

Bad new...
Toujours trouvé que cette actrice était un vrai caméléon tant son visage, le maquillage aidant, semble n'être pas du tout le même d'un film à l'autre. (voirpost de présentation)
