Jesús Guzmán, the remembered actor of 'Hostal Royal Manzanares' or 'Family Doctor', dies at the age of 97
He has been one of the most prolific and longest-lived actors in Spanish cinema, theatre and television. Much loved by his peers, those over 50 remember him especially for his role in the mythical series 'Chronicles of a People', but many of his roles make him unforgettable for the general public.

Jesús Guzmán, legendary Spanish actor, has died at the age of 97. Son, grandson and great-grandson of actors, over almost nine decades, since he debuted at the age of 9 in his parents' theater company, he has given his life to the world of acting, exercising secondary school work with a mastery and absolute dedication. The best supporting actors in our country, it has been written many times, belonged to their generation. Alaska in 'Cine de Barrio', always congratulated himself on the fact that in one of the films that were screened in his program appeared this man with a sarcastic smile and a clean look who conquered for his role as the postman Braulio in "Crónicas de un pueblo", under the orders of Antonio Mercero, now deceased.
The Artists' and Performers' Rights Management Entity (AISGE) has made public the death of Jesús Guzmán with a heartfelt message on its social networks: "Very sad. #JesúsGuzmán ("Chronicles of a People"), the 1,397th member of #AISGE and one of the most prolific actors in history, said goodbye to us yesterday at the age of 97. Eternal love for him: 'It's wonderful that people remember you,' he told us on his 90th birthday," are the words they have shared to reveal their sad goodbye.
Jesús Guzmán started working at the age of 9 in his parents' theater company
Jesús Guzmán worked in more than 150 films and more than 300 comedies. He began his career as a child in his family's theater company. He had a wealth of experience in theatre, film and television. He worked in such important international films as 'Death Had a Price', or 'The Ugly, the Good and the Bad'. He became very popular for his role in 'Crónicas de un pueblo', where he played Braulio, the postman although we could also see him in other mythical Spanish series such as 'Hostal Royal Manzanares', 'Farmacia de guardia', 'La casa de los líos' and 'Médico de familia' made him very popular among several generations. Santiago Segura has dedicated an emotional message to him on his Twitter account. He directed him in 'El Gran Vázquez' where Santiago played the comic artist, and Jesús Guzmán played his father.
Jesús Guzmán married actress Elena Graci in 1951. As a result of this marriage, four children were born: María Elena, María Jesús, María Teresa and Mercedes. One of Jesús Guzmán's last performances was for José Mota's program, making a satireof Javier Bardem's film in 'No Country for Old Men'. Rest in Peace
